Moving Spirit

The title derives from the jazz musicians with whom I entered a Paris Metro train as they continued to play without missing a beat. Throughout various video scenes are a series of still images of metro buskers, including a man playing both accordion and saxophone and another hitting a wood cutting saw with a small mallet. Also documented is an ironic series of posters from the same metro station, “Bonne Nouvelle (Good News),” taken over a period of seven years, including two showing images of Charles De Gaulle, in one instance leading the victory parade of Paris’ liberation in 1945, another as a young man.
